Morgan Davis grew up in Detroit, listening to a prolific mix of rhythm and blues - Ike and Tina Turner, Fats Domino, Jimmy Reed and Chuck Berry filled the air waves. In 1962, his family moved to California and in 1968, due to his opposition of the illegal and immoral war in Vietnam, decided to make Canada his home.
Moving to Toronto proved to be the right place to be for a young blues player - many blues artists established a circuit there, affording Davis a great opportunity to watch them perform and in later years, to back some of them up with his band. Through the 1970s and 80s, Davis played with Hubert Sumlin, Snooky Pryor, Sunnyland Slim and Dr. John.
Over the years, Davis has won 8 Maple Blues Awards and a JUNO in 2004 for Blues Album of the Year.
